A Delaware man underwent a colonoscopy, awaking afterwards and discovering he was wearing pink women's underwear. Of course, a lawsuit was then filed against the surgery center.
"The defendant's extreme and outrageous conduct went beyond all possible bounds of decency," wrote his attorney, who is seeking damages for intentional infliction of emotional distress.
The patient was actually an employee of the surgery center at the time, so while no explanations were given why pink underwear was allegedly placed, but we can speculate it was some poor attempt at humor.
While we at rhee plastic surgery have seen practical jokes in residency (one of the more benign ones was placing a green fruit smoothie in a patient's suction canister and tasting it in front of medical students), all jokes are flatly inappropriate in a clinical setting. Please focus on the patient's outcome, not his clothing.
